The driver who caused an accident on Interstate 95 that injured 10 people and resulted in the rollover of a tanker truck, faces charges of operating to endanger and marked lanes violation.
Massachusetts police said that the investigation into the crash is still being conducted. The Boston car accident resulted in Interstate 95 being closed for hours and led to the tanker truck spilling several thousands of gallons of gasoline into the Merrimack River.
Sulma Aguilar, a 32-year-old Everett resident, was driving a 2001 Ford Expedition on the morning of July 6, 2009, near the Route 113 exit on I-95, when he collided with a 2005 Freightliner tanker in the adjacent lane. The Aranco Oil tanker was being driven by 52-year-old Donald Branham and was carrying 10,000 gallons of gasoline.
The impact of the crash caused the tanker truck to brake and slide onto its side, which blocked all lanes of traffic and involved two other vehicles. A total of 10 people were injured in the collision. The driver of the tanker was not injured.
The injured accident victims were taken to various hospitals for treatment for their injuries.
I-95 was closed in both directions for several hours.
