Man in Serious Condition After Massachusetts Motorcycle Accident

Posted on Jun 10, 2009

A 24-year-old man from Ware, is in serious condition at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester following a motorcycle accident, according to a hospital spokeswoman.  The Massachusetts motorcycle accident occurred when Daniel D. Tourville, the driver, lost control of his bike.

Initially, Tourville was listed as being in critical condition, but was upgraded to serious on Tuesday, June 9, 2009.

Tourville was riding his motorcycle, heading north on Greenwich Plains Road at approximately 1:30 AM, when he lost control, said officer Robert F. Lavallee.  He was not wearing a motorcycle helmet at the time of the crash.

The motorcycle went off the road and struck a tree stump and utility pole.  Tourville, who did not own the motorcycle, was thrown off the vehicle, said Lavallee.

The injured motorcyclist was originally taken to Baystate Mary Lane Hospital, but was later airlifted to the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester.

A resident reported the Massachusetts motorcycle crash after hearing the motorcycle go by, followed by a loud popping sound.
