Mass. Rep. Nyman Dies in Accidental Drowning

The death of Mass. State Representative Robert Nyman, who died on Friday night, has been ruled an accidental drowning.

Nyman, 49, was found unresponsive in his swimming pool Friday night, according to Plymouth District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz, NECN reports. His neighbors pulled him out and performed CPR, but he later died at the hospital. A medical examiner determined that his death was due to a drowning accident.

Governor Deval Patrick met with Nyman’s family on Saturday, while, mourners gathered at his home in Hanover to say pay their respects and say goodbye to the well-loved politician, husband and father of two.

Nyman, a Democrat, was first elected to the Massachusetts House in 1999. He represented Hanover, Norwell, and Rockland.
