Massachusetts Bicycle Accident Near University

On Memorial Day morning, a 34-year-old woman riding her bicycle was hit and killed by a car on University Drive near the University of Massachusetts.  University Drive runs between Route 9 and Massachusetts Avenue at the University.

Law enforcement was notified of a car accident on University Drive about 10:30 AM.  When the first police officers arrived on the scene, they were told that a woman riding a bicycle had been hit by a car, according to police.

The female bicyclist was taken to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton where she was pronounced dead.  Her name is being withheld by police until her family can be notified.

Details regarding the fatal Massachusetts bicycle accident were not being released, including information about the motorist, until the investigation is completed.

An investigation is being conducted by the Amherst Police and the Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit.
