Toyota Tundra Recall Includes All 2000 to 2003 Models

March 12, 2010 – Washington, D.C. – Toyota has once again announced an expansion of its 2010 recall. Added to the list are all Tundras manufactured between 2000 and 2003.

Edmunds Inside Line reports that the problem with the recalled Tundras is not unintended acceleration, but, rather, corrosion of the vehicle’s frame. This damage could cause the spare tire stored underneath the vehicle to fall off while driving, which could lead to an accident. Perhaps even more dangerous is that the gas tank could also fall off the vehicle. In some cases, the brake lines could also be affected.

In November 2009, Toyota issued a recall on Tundras, including those manufactured between the years 2000 and 2003. That recall only included those trucks sold in 20 states that experience cold weather, as Toyota thought the corrosion was caused by road salts. The recall now includes Tundras sold in all states.

If you own a recalled Tundra, you are urged to take your truck to a dealership for repairs, and to call Toyota at 1-800-331-4331 with any questions.
